Gardai in Waterford are trying to trace the occupants of an English-registered car which failed to stop at a checkpoint at Carrigeen near Mooncoin last night.

Gardai in Waterford are trying to trace the occupants of an English-registered car which failed to stop at a checkpoint at Carrigeen near Mooncoin last night.

Gardai gave chase, but the occupants abandoned the car and fled across fields.

A search of the car uncovered balaclavas and house-breaking equipment.
