Stop employment scheme cuts, says SIPTU

The Government is being put under pressure this afternoon to stop cutting employment schemes in communities.

The Government is being put under pressure this afternoon to stop cutting employment schemes in communities.

The call comes as a review is due out on those schemes.

SIPTU wants the cuts to end until a restructuring of the schemes has started.

SIPTU General Secretary John McDonnell maintains that there are up to 20% to 30% cuts being made across the board.

The union insists that people on the schemes are been left in limbo because they do not know what the outcome of the review will be.
