Dress to Thrill delighted her connections when making a winning return at Leopardstown this evening in the Listed Brownstown Stakes.
Runner-up to the smart Quarter Moon in the Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh last September, the 6-4 favourite quickened impressively approaching the final furlong to settle the contest in a matter of strides with Chiming doing best of the others without ever threatening to succeed.
"She would love faster ground and will improve by that run," said winning jockey Pat Smullen. "It is a little dead out there, but she did it well when I went for her and she is a pretty smart filly."
Victorious trainer Dermot Weld is in California to saddle Saranac Lake for the American Oaks but was informed of the victory by his son Mark.
"Dad is delighted to hear she won nicely and he may run her next in the Group Two Prix d’Astarte at Deauville next month," Weld jnr said.
"She has taken time to come to herself this season but I think we have plenty to look forward to with her."
However, favourite backers suffered a reverse in the opening Sorrento Maiden when the odds-on Some Kind of Tiger from the Aidan O’Brien stable was outpaced by 4-1 chance Plume Rouge for the in-form combination of Curragh trainer Kevin Prendergast and jockey Declan McDonogh.
