Second drugs seizure at Dublin airport

Customs Officers have arrested a man in Dublin airport after he was caught attempting to smuggle a quantity of drugs into the country.

Customs Officers have arrested a man in Dublin airport after he was caught attempting to smuggle a quantity of drugs into the country.

The 34-year-old Irishman was travelling from Johannesburg via Paris and was stopped with 14 kilos of herbal cannabis and a small amount of heroin in his baggage.

The estimated street value of the seizure was €34,000 and the man has been taken to Whitehall Garda Station and is being questioned under the Drug Trafficking Act.

It is the second seizure at Dublin airport today, both of which involved people travelling from South Africa.
