Vanilla Sky tops the US box office
Tom Cruise's new movie Vanilla Sky has topped the US box office charts in its opening weekend.
The erotic thriller, which also stars Penelope Cruz and Cameron Diaz, took £17m.
Last week's number one Ocean's 11 came in second place with a gross of £16m.
Not Another Teen Movie opened at number three with £9m, while the Harry Potter film slipped to fourth place, bringing in £6.8m.
The week's films took Hollywood past last year's all-time revenue record of £5.4bn.
It is predicted that with Lord Of The Rings opening on Wednesday, the year's US box office should top £5.5bn.
