No sightings of escaped prisoner

There have been no reported sightings of the man who escaped when the van in which he was travelling to Cork prison was hijacked.

There have been no reported sightings of the man who escaped when the van in which he was travelling to Cork prison was hijacked.

Gardai described the escapee, 29-year-old Adrian Duke from Farranree in Cork, as "violent and vicious".

He was in the custody of three prison officers when he escaped.

Gardai have mounted checkpoints from around the Waterford city area to Cork city as well as searching a number of houses in Waterford.

Duke is 6ft 1" tall and has black short hair. At the time of his escape, he was wearing a beige short jacket with blue jeans and runners.
