Closing arguments due in Lawlor case

Lawyers for the Flood Tribunal will present their closing arguments this morning in the contempt of court case against Liam Lawlor.

Lawyers for the Flood Tribunal will present their closing arguments this morning in the contempt of court case against Liam Lawlor.

The tribunal claims the TD breached a court order by not providing appropriate documents and failing to answer questions about his personal finances.

Frank Clark, Senior Counsel for the tribunal will sum up the case against Mr Lawlor.

Yesterday, he told the court how the deputy had refused to answer certain questions and said that, if Mr Lawlor was unhappy with the order, he could have expressed his concerns to Justice Smith.

John Rogers, Mr Lawlor's barrister, stated that his business dealings in Prague and Liechtenstein were nothing to do with the issue of planning in Dublin and added that Mr Lawlor misinterpreted the court order.

Mr Justice Smith will consider the presentations later today.

The Dublin West TD could face a term in jail if found guilty.
