Mathias Jack is a Hibernian player once again after signing a one-year deal.
The German midfielder had come out of contract at the Edinburgh club but had continued to train with the rest of the Easter Road squad throughout the summer.
Lack of cash and uncertainty over television money meant Hibs boss Bobby Williamson was unable to renew the player’s contract.
But the sales of both Ulrik Laursen to Celtic and Ulises de la Cruz to Aston Villa - as well as an agreement between the Scottish Premier League and the BBC to show games over the next two seasons - meant the money was available to fund a new contract.
Jack spent yesterday and this morning in negotiations with the club and has finally put pen to paper on a return until the end of the season.
Williamson said: "He is a good professional with a terrific attitude and tremendous footballing qualities allied with experience."
