Severe weather brings road chaos in UK
Severe weather has hit Scotland, northern England, the Midlands and East Anglia, making many roads impassable.
Drifting snow in Aberdeenshire, Fife, Tayside, Cumbria and the Borders has closed minor roads and made A-roads hazardous.
Borders police say the situation there is "horrendous", while roads around the Strathdon area of Grampian are particularly badly affected.
About 3,000 customers had no electricity in northern Scotland after snow damaged power lines.
And 20 schools were closed in Aberdeenshire.
Meanwhile, heavy rainfall in Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Warwickshire left many minor roads impassable.
Police say some major roads also require great care because of flooding and have urged motorists to make only essential journeys during the evening and overnight.
Further south, a severe flood warning was in place on the River Kim in Huntingdonshire.
