A Latvian student has been banned from six of the most exclusive postcodes in London.

Janis Nords, 27 - who is in thousands of dollars worth of debt - received the ban after admitting to a series of "eat and run" thefts on a number of the British capital's top restaurants.

The student confessed to walking away from more than $10,000 in unpaid food bills after splashing out on luxurious meals and wines for his "high-maintenance" girlfriend.

Judge Daphne Wickham told him: "They are the places that have all the expensive restaurants. You are not to go into any part of that area at all."

Mr. Nords has also been told to devise a plan for repaying the money he now owes.
