Opposition TDs in the Midlands have lashed out at the Government and the IDA following the loss of almost 200 jobs in Co. Offaly.

Tullamore-based clothing manufacturers Lowe Alpine yesterday announced it was ceasing operations.

According to Fine Gael's Tom Enright the closure is the latest in a long line of job blows in the area.

He added that the Midlands was not fully benefiting from its objective one status.
