Nokia, the world's most productive mobile phone maker, has increased its lead over its rivals and sold 128 million mobile phones last year.
The firms says this represents a 64% increase on 1999.
That would give it more than a 30% market share as the Finland-based company says the total number of mobile phone sales worldwide in 2000 was 405 million - a 45% increase on '99.
Markets had been expecting even higher sales from Nokia and the company's share price has dived more than 17.5% on the Helsinki Stock Exchange.
