Mater asked to cancel surgery to take bug overflow

The Mater hospital in Dublin has been asked to cancel all non-elective surgery to deal with the overflow of patients form the Beaumont hospital.

The Mater hospital in Dublin has been asked to cancel all non-elective surgery to deal with the overflow of patients form the Beaumont hospital.

The Eastern Regional Health Authority has now made a formal request to the hospital asking them to cancel booking admissions so as to ease the pressure on the bug infected hospital, Beaumont.

Beaumont has now quarantined more than 76 beds in the wards that have been affected. Sixteen wards in total have now been hit by the bug.
