Texas police shoot dead schoolboy gunman

An armed 15-year-old pupil has been shot dead by police at a school in Texas.

An armed 15-year-old pupil has been shot dead by police at a school in Texas.

Brownsville detective J.J. Trevino said officers received a call around 8am that someone with a weapon was at Cummings Middle School. Police found the pupil in a hallway and shot him.

The shooting remains under investigation, but the gunman was an 8th-grade student at the school.

Mr Trevino said the school was immediately placed on lockdown and no one else was injured.

Brownsville is 280 miles south of San Antonio on the southern tip of Texas.
