Dublin's Darren Magee could end his 10-month absence from inter-county football in the Leinster SFC final on July 17 if he makes an impression in training tonight.
The bustling Kilmacud Crokes midfielder is expected to link up with the Dublin squad later today after contact was made between manager Paul Caffrey and the player.
Magee has not played at inter county level since the Dubs' All-Ireland SFC quarter final loss to Kerry last August, but could yet feature in their 2005 Leinster decider against Laois.
Magee arrived home from Australia last week after spending seven months in Australia. He played for Crokes in a challenge match against Portarlington in Glenalbyn two weekends ago but looked set on the idea of playing his summer football with Chicago's Wolfe Tones club Stateside.
He has, however, answered favourably to the Dublin management's request for his presence at training this week.
There were further encouraging signs for Caffrey and his backroom staff this week with the presence of David Henry and 1995 All-Ireland winner Dessie Farrell at training.
Henry has been out of action since breaking his arm in a hurling match in March. Stephen O'Shaughnessy (shoulder) also took in some light training on Tuesday.
