Rap mogul Shawn 'Jay-Z' Carter has dismissed reports he is planning to leave his post as president of Def Jam records, insisting the media are too far ahead of themselves.
The rapper was rumoured to be in negotiations with Columbia - home to Carter's girlfriend Beyonce - following the appointment of superproducer/performer Jermaine Dupri as the president of the label's urban music division in February this year.
But speaking to DJ Angie Martinez on New York radio station Hot 97 last week, Carter denied the reports and claimed he would stay at Def Jam until they fired him.
He told listeners: "If they don't kick me out the building (I will be there next week). I'm always looking at the next move (but) I'm nowhere near that. That's the papers, they are ahead of me."
