The Kerry South TD Michael Healy-Rae has been subjected to outbursts of laughter in the Dáil after raising the issue of hacking of phones.

It comes just weeks after it emerged Dáil phones had been abused to vote for him on a reality TV show four years ago.

However, Deputy Healy-Rae did not appreciate the outburst, saying it was not a laughing matter, given the practices that had emerged in Britain in recent weeks.

"If anyone inside in this House thinks that the hacking of dead children's phones is a laughing matter, ye are sad individuals," he protested.
