Files are being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions on three men arrested in relation to a violent assault on a taxi driver in Dublin.

The driver, who is originally from Pakistan, had to be treated in hospital for non life-threatening injuries.

He was attacked after he picked up a fare on the N4 near Palmerstown at around 4am yesterday morning.

His taxi was stolen, and later found burnt out.

Three men, aged 19, 21 and 28, were arrested shortly afterwards. They were released without charge last night.
