Smurfit Kappa has announced plans to close its Killeen Corrugated Products plant in Dublin with the loss of 55 jobs.
SIPTU says workers at the facility were informed this morning that the factory in Ballyfermot would be closed in December.
The union says it will try to ensure redeployment of as many workers as possible to other Smurfit plants in Walkinstown in Dublin, Cork and Lurgan.
The company is blaming a downturn in demand from customers, including cider makers Bulmers and Magners.
