Benny Dunne loses out to Seamus Callinan in the Tipp senior hurling starting line-up to face Cork on Sunday in Pairc Ui Chaoimh.
It represents the only change in personnel from the side that started the national league final against Galway.
Callinan from the Drom and Inch club makes his Championship debut at centre-forward as James Woodlock moves to midfield.
Eire Og Annacarty's Conor O'Brien is Tipperary's other Championship debutant at left corner-back.
The Premier County is a much more settled camp than 12 months ago and Ballinahinch clubman Shane Mcgrath is full of praise for the team ethos created by Liam Sheedy.
