Ernie Els has changed his mind and will try to improve his dreadful record at the Accenture world match play championship in Arizona next week.
In stark contrast to his record seven wins in World Match Play at Wentworth the South African has suffered four first-round defeats in the event which brings together the world’s top 64.
Last year he made an instant exit at the hands of Welshman Bradley Dredge and even at the start of this week the event was not on his planned schedule.
The only absentee at the moment is Brett Wetterich because of injury, although Arron Oberholser is thought to be doubtful.
