A ward at a Co Fermanagh hospital has been closed due to an outbreak of the MRSA "superbug".

Ten elderly patients in the ward at the Erne Hospital in Enniskillen have been found to be carrying the antibiotic-resistant bacteria.

They have since been isolated and new patients are not being admitted to the ward.

Local politicians say MRSA is a recurring problem that must be dealt with and a higher priority must be put on infection control and improving basic hygiene.
