Barnardos launches Children's Manifesto

Barnardos is launching its Children's Manifesto ahead of the General Election this morning.

The charity is calling for a new child protection and welfare system and wants children to be protected from cuts in the recession.

Chief executive Fergus Finlay said that they also want to restructure early intervention services, to prevent children falling into patterns of anti-social behaviour.

"We're publishing our own election manifesto this morning," he said. "We're talking about a whole new approach to prevention and early intervention and a restructuring of services. I believe it is the only way to address problems like this in the future."
