The most filmed story in Hollywood history is - wait for it - Cinderella, in its many forms; put-upon girl is treated badly by cruel step-mother and awful step-sisters but along comes her Prince Charming and the world’s a better place.
So here we have Duff, better known as TV’s Lizzie McGuire, as the said put-upon little mite having her life made sad and lonely by evil step-mum Coolidge. What an awful time she is given; until her mobile falls into the hands of lantern-jawed Most Popular Jock in the College (Murray) and romance blossoms; she gets to go to the glittering High School Dance.
It’s a simply awful film with absolutely nothing about it to enlist our interest, the acting is majestically woeful; the directing verges on the invisible and you won’t wait for midnight to chime as you all stream from the cinema.
