The average female wage in the North is still significantly less than that of the average male worker, according to official figures published today.

The average female wage in the North is still significantly less than that of the average male worker, according to official figures published today.

Despite the introduction of fair employment laws decades ago, the figures show that women earn more than a third less than men.

Female employees earn an average of £164 (€243) per week, compared to an average male wage of £260 (€387).
