The Irish Blood Transfusion Service has warned that its blood supplies are running dangerously low.

The Irish Blood Transfusion Service has warned that its blood supplies are running dangerously low.

The group currently has just three-and-a-half days worth of blood in stock - half of the required amount.

It is launching an appeal for 15,000 donations over the next few weeks, to keep hospitals in stock over Christmas.

Mobile blood donation clinics will be travelling around the country as part of the new campaign.
