Not a dive - Spanish footballer accused of cheating suffers serious injury

Poor David Pascual Ruiz has had a tough week.

When this footage from a game between Celtic and Valencia surfaced online, many viewers - including this site - originally took it to be a dive.

Video from WeLoveSoccre.

Seeing the Spaniard go down without any contact from the Celtic player, it looked like a very cynical simulation to stop the Scottish side scoring.

“Worst dive ever” was the general consensus.

Turns out we were all wrong.

His club confirmed last night that Pascual Ruiz suffered a serious injury and will be out for six months recovering from surgery on his cruciate ligament as a result.

Apologies for the accusations of diving David - and best wishes with the recovery.
