Council announces initiative to improve shop fronts

Independently owned shops in South Dublin County can apply for grants to improve their facades.

Shops which are on public streets may be eligible for a grant of up to €8,500 .

The 2016 Shop Front Grant Scheme will also award €1,000 to the best shop front design under the project.

South Dublin County said that independent retailers can use the grants to paint shop fronts, replace signage or even replace an entire shop front.

The deadline for applications is Friday, March 11.
