GAA President Sean Kelly has admitted yesterday's attendances for Championship matches were "disappointing".
Only 17,000 turned up for Croke Park's treble-bill of Leinster football action, with less than 10,000 witnessing Limerick's Munster Football success over Cork.
Kelly believes more promotion and better marketing of gaelic games may be needed, but has pointed out that with more of the "bigger counties" diving into the fray in the coming weeks, crowds should rise dramatically.
Referring to the Croke Park gate, Kelly stated: "We had been expecting a capacity of around 30,000 yesterday - we got just over half that.
"For six counties playing, that's an average of 3,000 per county. That's disappointing, no doubt about that."
