Gardai are trying to establish if a series of anthrax scares in Ireland were a deliberate hoax.
The Irish Independent offices in central Dublin, a creamery in the west of Ireland, a post office in Enniscorthy, Co Wexford, and a surgery in Tralee, Co Kerry were all at the centre of anthrax scares today.
All of them have since been declared false alarms. Gardai have warned that if the alerts were caused deliberately, those responsible could be jailed for up to a year.
