Ulster talisman Daviud Humphreys is full of confidence going into their Heineken Cup opener against Italian club Treviso in Belfast on Friday.
"Every year when the Heineken Cup comes around you go into it with huge optimism, but this year more than ever," he said.
"There is an unbelievable determination in this side. Europe is a step-up but I think we can do well."
The combination of a few smart signings like Justin Harrison and a host of talented young players has menat a more progressive Ulster this season. Their 27-0 defeat of The Borders made it six out of seven in the Celtic League.
"I do not know what the difference is between last year and this, but if we play well we will trouble most teams we play against.
"If you look at any successful team, key elements are spirit and commitment. People want to be in the Ulster team right now."
