A letter and two packages in Germany tested positive for anthrax today in what would be the first cases of contamination in Western Europe, state officials said.

A letter and two packages in Germany tested positive for anthrax today in what would be the first cases of contamination in Western Europe, state officials said.

The first was letter delivered to an employment office in eastern Germany on October 25, Thuringia state officials said.

Two parcels found in a town in the northern state of Schleswig-Holstein also came up positive in initial tests for anthrax, the state health minister said.
