Fine Gael MEP Gay Mitchell has accused some Dublin funeral homes of ripping off the bereaved by taking advantage of their grief.
Mr Mitchell claimed some undertakers in the capital were approaching people at times of grief and charging them exorbitant prices for funeral arrangements.
"I don't direct this at all funeral undertakers in Dublin, but I do think there are some who come along with a nice beside manner and sign up vulnerable people at a low emotional time in their lives for very expensive funerals which they can't afford," he said.
