Choi falls prey to 17th

The infamous 17th hole at St Andrews claimed another victim in the 134th Open championship today.

The infamous 17th hole at St Andrews claimed another victim in the 134th Open championship today.

Korea’s KJ Choi crashed to a quintuple bogey on the 455-yard par four during his final round 73 on the Old Course.

Choi’s approach finished on the road behind the green and after failing with two attempts to get up the bank, frustration got the better of him and he thumped his fifth shot across the green into the Road Hole bunker.

From there he needed two more shots to escape and two putts all added up to a nine – the joint worst score on the hole this week.
