GAA and VHI launch defibrillator initiative

The GAA and VHI Healthcare today launched details of a nationwide initiative to help clubs tackle the phenomenon of Sudden Arrhythmia Death Syndrome.

The GAA and VHI Healthcare today launched details of a nationwide initiative to help clubs tackle the phenomenon of Sudden Arrhythmia Death Syndrome.

The GAA has purchased high-quality Automated External Defibrillators (AED), one of which will be provided at every county ground for on-site use by trained county personnel. GAA clubs nation-wide will also be able to purchase an AED at cost price.

The GAA have also partnered with Vhi Healthcare to provide training sessions on how to use the Automated External Defibrillators to 125 clubs nationwide, free of charge. The introductory training sessions will be available for up to four representatives per club and will be hosted throughout Ireland over the coming two years.

GAA President Nicky Brennan speaking at an announcement that the VHI and the GAA are to provide a defibrillator to every county ground in the country.
