Arsene Wenger felt his side were too cautious after a disappointing 1-1 draw away to Norwegian side Rosenborg in the Champions League.
The Gunners took the lead after six minutes when Freddie Ljungberg scored following a corner but Rosenborg were level after the break when Roar Strand fired in the equaliser on 52 minutes.
Despite seeing the Barclays Premiership leaders sitting top of Group E in the Champions League with four points, three more than at the same stage last season, Wenger was unhappy his players had not won in Norway.
Wenger said: “It’s a very frustrating result.
“We came into the game when they came back to 1-1. Before I felt we were a bit too cautious and didn’t do enough going forward.
“When it was 1-1 it was all us, I feel it’s a game we should have won,” Wenger said.
“It’s part of the Champions League (playing against opponents like Rosenborg) and when you don’t concentrate you are punished.
“They (Rosenborg) have a very direct game and they work hard. The boys are disappointed as they feel they should have won the game.”
Scorer Ljungberg admitted Arsenal were caught napping by Rosenborg.
“In the second half we started to play again. Unfortunately we were not the first to the ball when the crosses came in.
“We wanted to win the game and we are disappointed.”
