Desperate Housewives has been nominated for best comedy series at the Directors' Guild of America Awards. Its directors Charles McDougall and Arlene Sanford were shortlisted alongside the makers of Sex And The City.
In the drama category, ER and The Sopranos were amongst those who earned nominations.
In the past week, late actor Christopher Reeve was nominated in the Directors' Guild's TV movie category, while Martin Scorsese and Clint Eastwood were nominated for best movie direction.
Now in their 57th year, the Directors' Guild movie awards are widely regarded as a good barometer of Oscar success.
