An expectant mother has been rushed to hospital by lifeboat after going into labour on Clare Island this morning.
The lifeboat from Achill was called out during stormy conditions just after 2am when the woman went into labour at her home.
She and her husband were bought to the mainland in 2 metre-high waves and gale-force 8 winds.
They were met by an ambulance at Kildavnet in Co Mayo before being brought to Mayo General Hospital.
