Group slams carbon tax as 'regressive'

The Government is being urged to act on 'energy poverty' ahead of Budget 2011.

The Government is being urged to act on 'energy poverty' ahead of Budget 2011.

The Energy Poverty Coalition group have said many households are struggling to cope with the double blow of rising energy costs and cuts to their incomes.

They are also critical of the carbon tax, describing it as a "regressive tax" which penalises rural and poorer households disproportionately.
