Noonan: Govt to return medical cards

The Finance Minister Michael Noonan says some of those who lost medical cards in the review process will have them returned.

Mr Noonan's comments come as he spoke out for the first time after revealing he has been treated for skin cancer.

The 71-year-old says he is in reasonably good form, he needs to bring in two more budgets, and at this stage plans to contest the next election.

It is understood that those who were mid-review or were appealing the removal of their cards are now being told that they continue to have a card.

Minister Noonan says the Government hopes to give back cards to sick people who had them taken away.
