Former Tipperary hero John Leahy has made it clear he's not interested in succeeding Michael Doyle as the county's senior hurling manager.

Doyle quit in a storm of controversy last month and Leahy, Tipp's current 'Person of the Year' has been mooted as a possible replacement following a successful coaching stint with county champs Mullinahone.

But he said: "The past twelve months have been tough, between study, playing hurling, injuries and coaching with my club.

"Since 1987, this is the first chance in my life where I have a break from hurling. It is now a time to give my career the full commitment it needs and deserves."
