Challenge to Harneys leadership
The Tanaiste, Mary Harney, will face a challenge to her leadership of the Progressive Democrat party this afternoon.
The party’s national executive is meeting today in Dublin, during which the challenge will be discussed.
Brian Russell, a member of the national executive, says he will move against the Tanaiste because of the party’s poor performances in opinion polls.
The challenge is not expected to succeed.
