A 19-year-old man is due to appear in court today on weapons charges connected to the discovery of a bomb-making factory in the North.

It follows a search on Monday of a block of flats in a staunchly loyalist area of north Belfast.

Pipe bomb component parts, homemade explosives and other items were all discovered at an address in the Mount Vernon estate.

The man, charged with possession of ammunition, is due to appear before Belfast Magistrates' Court.
