Bail has been refused to two cousins who are accused of being in possession of a Kalashnikov assault rifle at Cliona Park, in Moyross, Limerick on August 23.
They were further remanded in custody by Judge Timothy Lucey at Limerick District Court today.
Ross Cantillon (aged 19) St Ita's Street, St Mary's Park and Roy Woodland (aged 19), Canon Breen Park, Thomondgate are charged with being in possession of a AK submachine gun for an unlawful purpose on the occasion.
Judge Timothy Lucey remarked that things had reached a very low point when things were settled with an AK 47. This kind of weapon is not appropriate in a civilian setting, he said.
He refused the bail application on behalf of both accused.
