Blackburn have moved out of the Premiership's relegation zone after their victory against Southampton tonight.

Ireland's Damien Duff gave Sunderland the lead after 27 minutes on his return to the side.

Duff missed Blackburn's weekend fixture due to exhaustion from his international duties, according to Rovers' manager Graham Souness.

Just a minute after Duff's opener, Spaniard Jordi doubled the lead to leave Blackburn 2-0 ahead at half-time.

Southampton were unable to make any inroads into that scoreline in the second half.

This crucial 2-0 victory means Blackburn climb out of the relegation zone at the expense of Ipswich, who drew with Chelsea.
