Jamiroquai have been approached to play at the third annual Wakestock festival in Wales.

Jamiroquai have been approached to play at the third annual Wakestock festival in Wales.

The music and surfing event takes place at an isolated spot between Abersoch and Pwllheli on July 26 and 27.

Organisers hope to attract around 10,000 fans to the festival.

Jay Kay's group are among dozens of bands who have been asked to appear at the event.

A further 6,000 people are expected at the first ever Glynllifon Folk Festival, near Caernarfon, on June 29 and 30. It also hopes to attract top names.

Caernarfon MP Hwyel Williams said the events would be good for the local economy. But he told the Caernarfon And Denbigh Herald that Wakestock 2002 must be properly run and supervised.

He said: "My main reaction is that we need large events in north west Wales if they are properly organised, supervised and planned."
