Boy, 10, dies in wrestling bout with brother
A 14-year-old New York boy has been arrested after the death of his 10-year-old stepbrother during a wrestling session.
Police say the boy apparently suffocated during a bout of rough and tumble inspired by professional wrestling on TV.
They believe he was held in a bear hug hold by his older brother. Preliminary findings said the boy, a huge wrestling fan, died of asphyxia.
Police have arrested the boy on manslaughter charges, but the case is still under investigation.
Norman Corenthal, of the Family Court bureau, said the older boy, a special-education student, stood behind his brother and "placed him in a hold until his eyes rolled back".
The boy has been bailed into the custody of his stepfather, who described his son as "a nice kid".
Geoffrey Brown, the 14-year-old's lawyer, said the arrest was absurd.
