Sheffield Wednesday striker Owen Morrison has been placed on standby for Northern Ireland's friendly with Norway later this month.

Sheffield Wednesday striker Owen Morrison has been placed on standby for Northern Ireland's friendly with Norway later this month.

The 19-year-old Owls forward, who has scored eight goals this term, will join Sammy McIlroy's squad if any of his chosen strikers are forced to pull out.

Morrison, who played for his country at Under-18 level, joins Owls team-mate Alan Quinn in receiving international recognition following his call-up for the Republic of Ireland Under-21s.
