Former Justice Minister Ray Burke has dismissed allegations that he received a bag of money in 1986 that allegedly contained £60,000.

Mr Burke told the Flood Tribunal that the events described by former Fianna Fail councillor James Geraghty never occurred.

The tribunal was earlier told by Mr Geraghty that he saw the bag in question on Mr Burke's desk.

Mr Burke was chairman of Dublin County Council at the time.

Mr Geraghty said that after he informed a party colleague of what he saw, he received a phone call from Mr Burke, who told him that if he discussed payments further, he would never again run on a Fianna Fail ticket.

Less than a year later, Mr Geraghty's house was raided by Garda Special Branch officers looking for the Border Fox, Dessie O'Hare.

Mr Geraghty said he has since been seeking an apology from the gardai.
