Conor O’Dwyer insists he would not swap War Of Attrition for any other runner in the totesport Cheltenham Gold Cup.
O’Dwyer knows what it takes to win the biggest prize in steeplechasing after lifting the Gold Cup with Imperial Call in 1996, and believes the Mouse Morris-trained seven-year-old has ticks in all the right boxes.
“He’s got a great chance, the ground drying out will be a big help as well because he loves it fast,” said the Irish rider.
“He’ll have no problem with the trip and he jumps well – he is the ideal sort for the race.
“Beef or Salmon is the best horse in the race but something seems to happen to him round here; I think Monkerhostin is the horse we have to beat.
“I wouldn’t swap mine though. He is in super order and he likes it round here so I’m looking forward to it,” he told Racing UK.
